Fasig-Tipton has cataloged a record number of offerings for Monday’s July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky. Twenty-three have been added to an already largest-ever catalog, bringing the total of entries up to 175 for the auction set for 4 p.m. (EDT), the eve of Tuesday’s July Sale of yearlings.

Among the eye-catching lots in the original catalog (Hip Nos. 401-552) is One Liner (Into Mischief), the 2017 Southwest (G3) winner who was a dead-heat second in the May 18 Pimlico Special (G3). Consigned by WinStar Racing, agent, as Hip 492, the four-year-old colt comes off a ninth in the Metropolitan H. (G1) for Todd Pletcher.

The supplementary entries, listed as Hips 553-575, are headlined by Grade 1 veteran Wake Forest (Sir Percy) from the Elite Sales draft. A Group 3 winner in his native Germany as well as Italian Group 1-placed, the Chad Brown-trained entire scored his signature win in the 2016 Man o’ War (G1).

Other stakes performers ready to tour the ring include Phipps Stable’s homebred Fire Away (War Front), the off-the-turf Dixie (G3) winner, and his maternal relative Revved Up (Candy Ride), a son of Storm Flag Flying who just missed in Saturday’s Arlington H. (G3); Mississippi (Pioneerof the Nile), third in the Florida Derby (G1); the respective second and third from the June 30 Princess Rooney (G2), Grade 3 scorer Rich Mommy (Algorithms) and My Miss Tapit (Tapit); Alter Moon (Alternation), a late addition to the sale after crushing the June 30 Azalea on the same Summit of Speed program; Rushaway winner Alternative Route (Tiznow), another supplement who was eighth in the June 30 Queen’s Plate; Treasuring (Havana Gold), the Senorita (G3) winner exiting a fourth in the Penn Oaks; Classy Class (Discreetly Mine), hero of the 2017 Salvator Mile (G3); Do Share (Candy Ride), the Gravesend scorer and Tom Fool (G3) runner-up; King Humor (Distorted Humor), unbeaten through the June 7 Ocala Flame; Weiland (Yes It’s True), the Juvenile upsetter and Bashford Manor (G3) fifth; and stakes-winning fillies Laudation (Congrats), Lirica (Kantharos), and Stallion Heiress (Exchange Rate).

Several in the catalog are recent maiden winners. Notable in this category are Churchill Downs romper Meistermind (Bodemeister), a sophomore half-brother to 2009 Kentucky Derby (G1) shocker Mine That Bird and multiple Grade 1 star Dullahan; Corot (Pioneerof the Nile), three-year-old full brother to Grade 1 hero Midnight Storm who broke his maiden in a romp at Woodbine; sophomore Sum Overture (The Factor), victorious first up at Monmouth; Hargus (Capo Bastone), his freshman sire’s first winner on debut at Keeneland; Lady Lucy (Into Mischief), successful second time out at Churchill; and the supplementary entries, Belterra track record-setter War Bridle (Shakin It Up) and ThistleDown romper Spice It Up (Super Saver) from the family of Thiskyhasnolimit and Bernardini.

The Royal Ascot exploits of Norfolk S. (G2) heroine Shang Shang Shang have propelled her half-sister Two Timing Girl (Two Step Salsa) into the catalog as a late addition. Warranty (Artie Schiller), a five-time winning half-sister to recent Jim McKay Turf Sprint scorer Imprimis, is another riding the coattails.

Upon the release of the catalog, Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning commented upon the impact the relatively new sale has had in only five years.

“Since this sale was first held in 2013, sale graduates have made nearly 5,000 starts, and earned $29 million,” Browning noted. “The sale has also produced an impressive 28 percent stakes horses and more than 50 stakes wins.”

Canadian International (G1) conqueror Bullards Alley, a graduate of the 2014 sale, has pride of place on the catalog cover, his portrait flanked by fellow alumni Ivy Bell, Go Noni Go, and Fear the Cowboy.
