After winning 20 Grade 1 races in 2018, Chad Brown picked up his third consecutive Eclipse Award for outstanding trainer.
Brown won a career-high 224 races, including 47 graded, and the stable accumulated $27,546,057 in earnings, second all-time to Todd Pletcher in 2007. He sent out Breeders’ Cup winners Sistercharlie (Filly & Mare Turf) and Newspaperofrecord (Juvenile Fillies Turf), increasing his total to 12 in the championship event, and continued to distinguish himself as North America’s top turf conditioner.
A 40-year-old native of Mechanicville, New York, Brown turned an expected close trainer’s race at Saratoga into a landslide with a record 46 wins, more than twice as many as 13-time titleholder Pletcher. He also won a pair of training titles at Belmont Park and the spring meet at Aqueduct in 2018.
Other runners included Arlington Million hero Robert Bruce; Kentucky Derby runner-up Good Magic; Hollywood Derby winner Raging Bull; and high-class turf distaffers Fourstarcrook and Rushing Fall.
