Game Winner went through his juvenile campaign undefeated in four starts and is the fifth titlest of this division trained by Bob Baffert, who previously conditioned champion colts Vindication (2002), Midshipman (2008), Lookin at Lucky (2009), and American Pharoah (2014).

Sporting blinkers in his August 18 debut at Del Mar over six furlongs, Game Winner opened up on the field through the stretch to win by 5 3/4 lengths. Wheeled back 15 days later for the Del Mar Futurity, Game Winner rallied to win by 1 1/4 lengths sans blinkers. It was Baffert’s 14th win in the race since 1996.

Favored to win both the American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Churchill Downs, Game Winner did not disappoint in taking the former by 4 1/2 lengths and the latter by 2 1/4 lengths to secure divisional honors.

Owned by Gary and Mary West, Game Winner bankrolled $1,496,000 during the season. He’s expected to prep twice before the Kentucky Derby (G1) in May.

A son of Candy Ride and the unraced A.P. Indy mare Indyan Giving, Game Winner was bred in Kentucky by Summer Wind Farm and solid at Keeneland September for $110,000. His second dam is Fleet Indian, the champion older mare of 2006.
