Not much graded action takes place this weekend as the countdown to the Kentucky Derby (G1) heats up. Keeneland hosts the Elkhorn Stakes (G2) on April 20, Santa Anita Park has carded the Kona Gold Stakes (G2) and Charles Town puts on its featured Charles Town Classic (G2).
Woodbine kicks off its 2019 Thoroughbred racing season on April 20 as well, and celebrates with the Whimsical Stakes (G3) for distaffers.
And last, but not least, Laurel Park has carded seven stakes as part of its Spring Stakes Spectacular program on April 20. Included amongst those events is the Federico Tesio Stakes, which awards the winner an automatic berth to the 144th running of the Preakness Stakes (G1) on May 18 at Pimlico.
