Covfefe moved her career record to 4-3-0-0 with a dominating 8 1/2-length victory in the Miss Preakness Stakes (G3) at Pimlico on Black-Eyed Susan Day on May 17. That track record-setting triumph saw the Into Mischief sophomore earn a 110 BRIS Speed rating to top the week’s Speed figures in stakes.
On the same day, Point of Honor and Mylady Curlin were each awarded a 103 BRIS Speed number for respective scores in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2) and Allaire DuPont Distaff Stakes (G3).
I have a seriously hard time believing War of Will only ran a paltry 95. He ran one of the fastest times in Preakness history and somehow he’s 10-17 points lower than the likes of Oxbow, Exaggerator, California Chrome and others. How does happen????
BRIS Speed ratings, like other numbers available elsewhere, take into account the relative speed of the surface (or variant). The raw time alone does not determine what Speed rating a horse will receive. You can read more about BRIS Speed ratings here: http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/static.cgi?page=speed
