Dunkirk, Chocolate Candy work at Belmont

Last updated: 5/18/09 7:29 PM

Two candidates for the June 6 Belmont S. (G1) worked over Belmont Park’s fast
main track on Monday.

DUNKIRK (Unbridled’s Song), who finished second in the Florida Derby
(G1) prior to his 11th-place effort in the Kentucky Derby (G1), sped four furlongs in
a co-bullet :47 1/5 for Todd Pletcher.

According to Daily Racing Form, the work was accomplished in company
with multiple Grade 1-placed MUNNINGS (Speightstown), who posted the same
time.

“I didn’t think I needed to gauge anything, but it was nice to see him go out
there and breeze well,” Pletcher told the DRF. “He was against the bridle, doing
it very easily. He looks like he’s in form.”

El Camino Real Derby (G3) winner CHOCOLATE CANDY (Candy Ride [Arg]), who
finished fifth in the Kentucky Derby last time, breezed six furlongs in
1:13 2/5 for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
