Mark Dedomenico, Jerry Hollendorfer & George Todaro’s ADREAMISBORN (Kris S.)
circled the field in the stretch of Saturday’s $113,750
Stanford Breeders’ Cup H. (G3)
at Bay Meadows, then had to dig down and gut out a head victory over Night Bokbel (Ire) (Night Shift) at the wire. Ridden by Russell Baze, the
Hollendorfer-trained six-year-old finished the 8 1/2-furlong soft turf feature
in 1:46 1/5.
Adreamisborn, part of a three-horse entry for Hollendorfer, paid out $4.60,
$3.20 and $2.20 as the 6-5 favorite while keying the $20.30 exacta ($1). Night
Bokbel returned $6.60 and $3.20 to his backers at 7-1, and it was another 1 1/2
lengths back to Fantastic Spain (Fantastic Fellow), who was worth $2.40 at 3-1.
The $1 trifecta gave back $63.50 and Yougottawanna (Candi’s Gold) ended the
1-2-8-7 superfecta ($1) that paid $159.20.
Yougottawanna led the field through splits of :23 4/5, :48,
1:13 2/5 and 1:39 2/5 but couldn’t hang on as Adreamisborn moved up on the
outside. Yougottawanna eventually filled the fifth spot and was followed by My Creed (Beau
Genius) and Taste of Paradise (Conquistador Cielo) after Asong for Billy
(Unbridled’s Song) and True Dancer (First and Only) were withdrawn.
Congressionalhonor (Forestry), stablemate to the winner, was pulled up on the
backstretch.
Adreamisborn earned his first win this year here after placing in the
Lafayette H. and Seabiscuit Breeders’ Cup H. (G3) in his first two starts this
season. The dark bay gelding already two black-type scores from 2004 in the
Longacres Mile H. (G3) and Alamedan H., and improved his lifetime record to
21-6-7-3, $385,430.
Bred in Kentucky by John Franks and Jonabell Farm, Adreamisborn sold for
$80,000 at the Keeneland November sale as a weanling. He is out of the multiple
Grade 3-winning Erica’s Dream (Two’s a Plenty) and two unnamed half-sisters, a
juvenile by Littlebitlively and a yearling by Lost Soldier.
