Finallymadeit always in control in Memorial Day

Last updated: 5/25/09 7:01 PM

Rolbea Thoroughbred Racing’s homebred FINALLYMADEIT (Concerto) redeemed
himself after an uncharacteristic showing in the Sumter S. last out to wire his
foes in Monday’s $100,000
Memorial
Day H. (G3)
at Calder. Taking his customary leading role beneath Eduardo
Nunez, the 121-pound highweight dictated through splits of :24, :48 2/5, 1:12
2/5 and 1:38 3/5 prior to completing the 1 1/16 miles on the sloppy, sealed main
oval in 1:45 2/5. The 9-5 second choice returned $5.60, $3.20 and $2.20 for
conditioner Javier Negrete.

Motovato (Proud Citizen), the 8-5 favorite, made a nice move from midpack to
get into striking range but could not reel in the winner in a fine runner-up
showing. The second-placer finished 5 1/2 lengths clear of his nearest foe and
paid $2.80 and $2.20 while completing the $17.80 exacta. Dream Maestro
(Concerto) finished third by 4 1/4 lengths as the 5-2 third choice, paying $2.20
and rounding out the $28.80 trifecta. Rehoboth (Wagon Limit) capped the $58.20
superfecta (4-3-2-1) at 14-1 and was followed by Pechito (Arg) (Interprete) and
Hey Byrn (Put It Back).

Finallymadeit improved his career line to 44-16-7-4 following this score,
boosting his bankroll to $992,645, in the process. The Florida-bred has captured
10 black-type events, most notably the Fred W. Hooper H. (G3) in December and
the Skip Away S. (G3) in early April. Finallymadeit has also finished second in
the Donn H. (G1) and Gulfstream Park H. (G2) this season.

The winner was bred by Rolando Rodriguez and Rolbea Stables in the Sunshine
State, and was produced from four-time stakes heroine Gold for My Gal (Gold
Alert). Finallymadeit has an unnamed juvenile half-sister by Band Is Passing.
