Buckram Oak Farm’s homebred EUROSILVER (Unbridled’s Song) led from gate to
wire in Saturday’s $100,000
Skip Away H. (G3) at Gulfstream Park under Javier
Castellano to earn his first win in more than a year. The four-year-old last
visited the winner’s circle when taking an allowance over the same track in
February of 2004, then proceeded to finish a head second in the Swale S. (G3).
Those two starts actually came under the tutelage of trainer Nick Zito, but Eurosilver wasn’t seen in competition again until last October, when he started
for conditioner Carl Nafzger in the Perryville S. He finished second there,
followed by a good fifth in the Clark H. (G2).
Eurosilver started his 2005 campaign with a fourth in an optional claimer at
Gulfstream and now owns a 9-4-3-0 record with $436,710 in lifetime earnings.
On Saturday, he led through splits of :23 3/5, :47 1/5, 1:10 4/5 and 1:36 1/5 before
stopping the clock in 1:49 1/5 for nine furlongs on the fast track. Sent off at
4-1, the dark bay gave back $10, $6.40 and $3.60 for his half-length victory.
Twilight Road (Cahill Road) rallied from midpack to take second by three
parts of a length over Zakocity (Precocity), who spent most of the race in
second, and paid $14.40 and $6.60. Zakocity returned $2.80 as the 6-5 favorite,
and the $1 exotics were worth $90.80 (exacta), $284.30 (trifecta) and $3,210.30
(8-1-9-2 superfecta). Biblical Scholar (Line in the Sand) came next and was
followed by Tap Day (Pleasant Tap), Spite the Devil (Devil His Due), Unigold
(Silver Deputy), Ole Faunty (Quiet American), The Lady’s Groom (Runaway Groom)
and Sir Oscar (Halo’s Image).
Bred in Kentucky, Eurosilver is out of stakes winner Russian Tango (Nijinsky
II) and has an unraced sophomore half-sister named Bratislava (Awesome Again) as
well as a yearling half-brother named Eurotango (Silver Deputy).
