Graeme Six broke through with her first graded score in the Winning Colors
(Reed Palmer/Churchill Downs)

Team West Side Stables et al’s GRAEME SIX (Graeme Hall) moved to the fore at
the top of the lane and gradually put away her five foes with a 1 1/2-length
score in the $107,600
Winning Colors S. (G3) at Churchill Downs on Monday.
Conditioned by Tom Amoss and piloted by Julien Leparoux, the four-year-old lass
drove home in a swift 1:09 for the six furlongs and rewarded her backers with
mutuels of $7, $3 and $2.20 as the 5-2 second choice.

Change Up (Distorted Humor) broke best and went straight to the front,
leading the way through fractions of :22 and :45 for the opening half-mile. Graeme Six, who was never far from the leader, was well-positioned for the
stretch run and proved easily best in this affair. Miss Macy Sue (Trippi) broke
slowly and was parked widest of all for the duration of the race, but the 7-5
favorite showed heart in getting up by a head for the place. The runner-up gave
back $2.80 and $2.10 while completing the $17.40 exacta. Change Up stayed on for
third at 4-1, paying $3 in the process. The winning trifecta paid $51, and the
5-2-6-1 superfecta was worth $216.20 with Gem Sleuth (Officer) next. Pretty
Jenny (Pioneering) and Adhrhythm (Adhocracy) completed the field.

Graeme Six captured her third stakes win from her last four outings,
improving her mark to 14-5-6-0, $311,854. The Florida-bred earned wins in the
Pan Zareta S. and Carousel S. this campaign, and was second in the Prioress
S. (G1) in her sophomore season.

“Horses have used this race as a springboard for big things at the end of the
year, and now that the Breeders’ Cup has incorporated a sprint for fillies,
we’re excited about the opportunity to perhaps try that if she stays 100
percent,” Amoss said.

The winner was bred in Florida by William and Annabel Murphy and was purchased for
$37,000 at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May Two-Year-Olds in Training sale.
She is the first foal out of the winning Polish Ruby (Polish Pro) and has an
unnamed two-year-old half-brother by Essence of Dubai and an unnamed 2008
half-sister by Sabre D’argent.
