An improved clearance rate, compared to last year’s corresponding day,
bolstered low-key trade as prices dipped as expected on the final day of
Arqana’s Breeding Stock Sale at Deauville Monday.
The highest price of the session, €30,000,
was achieved twice with His Highness The Aga Khan’s Studs’ SHIVERA (Highest
Honor [Fr]) leading the way initially. Offered as Hip No. 539, the unraced
three-year-old, who is out of a half-sister to the 2005 Irish Oaks (Ire-G1)
heroine Shawanda (Ire) (Sinndar), went the way of David Powell’s EURL du Chene.
Haras de la Louviere’s Hip 664, HELP FROM HEAVEN (Titus Livius [Fr]), who
boosted her page with a second in last month’s Prix Zeddaan, took joint-top
place on the podium when knocked down to Narvick International.
Overall, the three-day sale registered increases across the board with the
aggregate jumping just over nine percent to €13,741,500.
The median surged 40 percent, while the average recorded a modest improvement of
over four percent.
“We are pleased to have reached our goal, which was to generate an increase
in the volume as well as in the quality of trade,” Arqana president Eric Hoyeau
said. “More horses were sold this year and generally at higher prices, as
reflected by the rise in the average and median.
