ALUMNI HALL (A.P. Indy) is going for his fifth win of the year while taking
on eight rivals in the $150,000 Fayette S. (G3) at Keeneland on Saturday. The
Neil Howard-trained six-year-old returned off a three-month break to take an
optional claimer at Saratoga by 7 1/4 lengths before running second in the
Meadowlands Breeders’ Cup S. (G2) last out. He earned century-topping BRIS Speed
and Late Pace ratings for his optional-claimer victory and could take this one
on the front end with Calvin Borel aboard.
LORD OF THE GAME (Saint Ballado) ran second in the Hawthorne Gold Cup H. (G2)
last out by just a head and could move forward here while challenging Alumni
Hall for pacesetting duties. The dark bay four-year-old owns a win at the 1
1/8-mile distance of the Fayette and could come out on top.
SHANIKO (A.P. Indy) has posted five straight triple-digit Speed figures,
including his last two that resulted in easy wins. The Todd Pletcher trainee is
the one to beat on Saturday with Mike Luzzi in the irons.
TRAPPED AGAIN (Deputy Commander) won his last two by easy margins as well
while earning stellar numbers. He’ll be challenging for the win early.
M B SEA (Alphabet Soup) won the West Virginia Governor’s S. by seven lengths
and consistently earns triple-digit Late Pace numbers. The six-year-old veteran
will be tough in the exotics. ON THIN ICE (Tactical Cat) didn’t do so well while
sprinting last out and could show more here while returning to a route of
ground.
HABANEROS (Tabasco Cat) is a consistent performer and could grab part. MAMBO
TRAIN (Kingmambo) was going well before finishing up the track in the Hawthorne
Gold Cup and might not be able to handle these at this time. FANTASTICAT (Storm
Cat) may not be fast enough to challenge here.
