One of the Thoroughbred industry’s most prominent and multi-purpose
operations, Vinery Ltd., is being offered for sale. Vinery owner Dr. Tom Simon,
after meetings with his family and taking into account their plans and
interests, has made the decision to place Vinery’s U.S. Division on the market,
according to announcement made by organization president Tom Ludt.
The thriving operation, which has divisions in Kentucky, Florida, and New
York includes state-of-the art stallion, broodmare, boarding, rehabilitation and
sales prep facilities.
“Mr. Simon is not bailing on the industry, this is mainly about his children
who don’t have an interest in the horse business,” Vinery president Tom Ludt
told The Blood-Horse. “It is his passion but not theirs. This is not
going to be a fire sale. It is our hope to keep everything running only
eventually with a new owner. At the end of the day, we’re a mammoth operation
but we’re a profitable operation.
Vinery will retain its Australian interests at this time.
