Classic Endeavor scores in Stuyvesant
Sullivan Lane Stables, Vincent Scuderi and L. Hollow Farm’s
CLASSIC ENDEAVOR (Silver Buck) took the lead soon after the start
of Saturday’s $109,900 Stuyvesant H. (G3) at Aqueduct and carved
out fractions of :24 1/5, :48 3/5, 1:12 4/5 and 1:37 1/5, all the
while under a good hold by jockey Edgar Prado. Making only his
second start for trainer Richard Dutrow, the six-year-old kicked
clear in the stretch and easily held off the late run of Colita (Grindstone)
to post a 1 1/2-length victory in 1:49 3/5 for nine furlongs on
the good track.
“After his last race, when he got out so bad, my doctor
found some muscle tears in his hind end and he fixed them up,”
Dutrow said. “I had no question that he was going to turn
into a different horse. And we saw that today.”
Sent off at 3-1, Classic Endeavor paid $8.60, $3.80 and $4.50
while starting the $28.80 exacta and $126 trifecta. Colita was 4
1/4 lengths clear in second at nearly 3-1, giving back $3.80 and
$3.50, and was followed by Snake Mountain (A.P. Indy), who
returned $5.80 at 7-1. Next came Country Be Gold (Summer Squall),
Trapped Again (Deputy Commander), 3-2 favorite Powerful Touch (Touch
Gold) and Everdayissaturday (Storm Cat). Kissin Saint (Kissin
Kris) was scratched.
Classic Endeavor captured the Excelsior Breeders’ Cup H. (G3)
and Frisk Me Now S. last season, as well as placed in two other
black-type events. This was the dark bay’s first stakes victory
this year, and he moved his record to 55-15-9-3 with $646,893 in
lifetime earnings.
Bred in Florida by Diane H. Flowers, Classic Endeavor is the
out of the winning Bold Juana (John Alden) and counts multiple-stakes
winning juvenile B. B. Best (Yes It’s True) as a half-brother.
