The Japan Racing Horse Association announced that 316 foals and 170 yearlings
have been cataloged for its three-day auction, which will run July 10-12 at
Northern Horse Park on Hokkaido. The sale traditionally features foals selling
alongside their dams, but will include yearlings for the first time this year.

The sale’s most famous graduate is Deep Impact (Sunday Silence), hero of last
year’s Triple Crown and named 2005 Japanese Horse of the Year. He joined a list
that already had already boasts the names Admire Groove, Hat Trick, King
Kamehameha, Sundrop (Jpn), Utopia and Zenno Rob Roy.

An international array of stallions will be represented, including Agnes
Digital, Aldebaran, Awesome Again, Belong to Me, Brian’s Time, Desert King,
Exceed and Excel, Falbrav (Ire), Forty Niner, French Deputy, Fusaichi Pegasus,
Giant’s Causeway, Grandera, Kurofune, Pivotal, Marienbard, Mineshaft, Moon
Ballad (Ire), Rock of Gibraltar (Ire), Sadler’s Wells, Singspiel (Ire), Sky
Mesa, Smarty Jones, Special Week, Stay Gold, Symboli Kris S., Swept Overboard,
Vindication and Wild Rush.

Among the many appealing pedigrees are Hip 60, a yearling colt by Pivotal out
of Grade 3 winner Veil of Avalon (Thunder Gulch), who is a half-sister to Deep
Impact; and hip 215, a foal by French Deputy out of the Blue Avenue (Classic Go
Go), making him a full brother to Japanese champion Kurofune.

Catalogs will be available on-line beginning June 26 at www.jrha.or/jp/eng.
