Robert
Luttrell’s unbeaten Promise Me Silver (Silver City) — 1 1/4-length winner of
the Eight Belles S. (G3) on May 1, Kentucky Oaks Day, — breezed a bullet five
furlongs in :59 2/5 with Brian Hernandez Jr. in the irons for trainer Bret
Calhoun on Friday over the fast main track at Churchill Downs.

Assistant trainer Dennis “Peaches” Geier oversaw the work while Calhoun was in Texas visiting family and said he
was happy with the filly’s work.

“She looked very good,” Geier remarked. “Everything was perfect, she galloped
out good.”

Promise Me Silver rattled off fractions of :12, :23 4/5 and
:35 3/5 before galloping out six furlongs in 1:12 1/5.

“She went great,” Hernandez added. “She did everything Bret (Calhoun) wanted
her to do. Everything went smooth.”

The Texas-bred filly, who is eight-for-eight thus far having racked up
$434,915 in career earnings,
remains on target for the $750,000 Acorn S. (G1) on the June 6 Belmont Stakes
Day program at Belmont Park. The gray miss broke her maiden last May at Lone
Star Park and has faced stakes company in every start since while competing at
six different tracks.

Mike Smith will ride Promise Me Silver, who is likely to ship to New York on
Wednesday, in the Acorn. Her
Eight Belles jockey, Robby Albarado, will pilot Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up
Shook Up (Tapit).
