Discreetness tracked an early pace duel and wore longshot Gordy Florida to take
Monday’s $150,000 Smarty Jones, the first of Oaklawn Park’s series of preps
for the Kentucky Derby (G1). Trained by “Jinks” Fires and ridden by Jon Court,
Discreetness won by a neck in what was a follow-up victory after taking last
month’s $250,000 Springboard Mile at Remington Park.
At Santa Anita,
Keri Belle just held off Stormy Lucy and Theatre Star to register her first
stakes win in the $100,000 Megahertz (G3), a one-mile grass event for
fillies and mares. Mr. Mrs. Jerry Moss’ homebred was ridden by Alex Solis.
