A field of nine fillies and mares will head to the gate for Saturday’s
$100,000 Beaugay H. (G3) on the Aqueduct turf with two main-track-only entrants
waiting at the ready. FINERY (Lear Fan) enters off a terrible trip in the
Cardinal H. (G3) were she was stuck seven to eight wide for much of the trip,
resulting in a sixth-place finish. The five-year-old now comes off a five-month
layoff from that outing and should improve, especially with the early speed
present here. The William Turner Jr. trainee is perfect over this 1 1/16-mile
distance and course, including a victory on this surface two back where she
posted a 113 BRIS Late Pace rating in the Athenia H. (G3). Pablo Fragoso has the call.

FAST COOKIE (Deputy Minister) has fared well at this distance, posting a mark
of 2-1-1 in five tries. In her last nine outings, she has only placed off the
board twice. She comes off a victory against allowance company last out and came
up just short in the Endeavour S. the race prior. Fast Cookie possesses the late
speed necessary to put herself on the board in this one. Trainer Bill Mott
will lift John Velazquez into the saddle.

CHANGING WORLD (Spinning World) owns some good early speed, but faltered in
the stretch of the Honey Fox H. (G3) and came home last after what had been a
fairly good outing to that point. Trainer Barclay Tagg has been hot of late,
posting a line of 4-2-1-0 over the past week, and look for his five-year-old to
bounce back from her last trip.

WITH PATIENCE (With Approval) comes off a solid third in the Athenia but has
been off since then. The Elizabeth Merryman charge has been breezing well in the mornings preparing for her 2005
debut and With Patience has a good shot of placing at the bottom of the gimmicks
here. Jockey Richard Migliore will ride.

LADY LIBBY (Sea Salute) enters off a second in the Rare Treat H. and looks to
be in the best form of her career right now. She returns here off a two-month
layoff and will be making her graded debut. The five-year-old mare
should be a good money play with morning-line odds of 20-1. ASTI (Ire) (Sadler’s
Wells) has one start under her belt after moving to North America from her
homeland, a sixth-place in the E.P. Taylor S. (Can-G1) at Woodbine. Six months
later, she makes a drop in class here and could finish for part.

SAUVAGE (Fr) (Sri Pekan) raced poorly in her first trip stateside,
finishing last in a field of 12. Trainer Thomas Albertrani cut her back last out and the result was a trip to the Gulfstream Park winner’s
circle. SAVAGE BEAUTY (Joyeux Danseur) could be hurt by an early speed duel
which looks likely to materialize. She owns some of the highest BRIS E1 and E2
ratings of the bunch, and could fall prey to the closers
in the final furlong. FORTUNATE DAMSEL (Runaway Groom) stumbled at the start of
the Turnback the Alarm H. (G3) and finished poorly in that race. He will be
making his first start for William Turner, so we will just watch for now.

STRATEGY (A.P. Indy) has the ability to come on late or rate from just off
the pace. This versatility could make him dangerous if the race were to be moved
to the main track. Trainer Shug McGaughey is 2-1-1 with his last four starters
and his pupil could grab part on an off track. If ACTCELLENT (Noactor) were to
run here, he would be hitting the track just a week after his last start in the
Bed O’ Roses H. (G3) and we can’t recommend.
