The April 19-foaled bay worked one furlong in :10 1/5 at last Friday’s under
tack show.
A gray colt from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Corinthian attracted a
final bid of $380,000 from Narvick International. The Kentucky-bred, who also
ran a furlong in :10 1/5 at the under tack show, sported Hip 30 and was offered
by Wavertree Stables (Ciaran Dunne), agent.
Produced by multiple stakes winner Hollow Miss (With Approval), the colt is
half-brother to 2005 Sapling S. (G3) winner He’s Got Grit (Songandaprayer) and
the multiple stakes-placed Take the Money (Silver Charm).
This female family traces back to Morn Again (Sun Again), dam of the noted
race mare Politely (*Amerigo), who was campaigned by Allaire duPont’s Bohemia
Stable. Politely was a two-time winner of the Matchmaker S., Firenze H. and
Molly Pitcher H., as well as the Delaware H. and Ladies H., in a 13 stakes-win
career.
The gross at the one-day auction declined from last year due to fewer horses
being sold, but the average and median posted increases. Receipts from the sale
of 55 juveniles were $5,539,000, a drop of 11.4 percent from 2010 when 69 head
brought $6,255,000. The average rose 11.1 percent, from $90,652 to $100,709,
while the median jumped 16.7 percent, from $60,000 to $70,000.
