The Breeders’ Cup, the Paulick Report and Kentucky Derby-winning jockeys Pat
Day and Calvin Borel are teaming up for this year’s edition of “Breeders’ Cup or
Bust.” For this third-year fundraiser, Paulick Report founder, Ray Paulick, and
his business partner, Brad Cummings, will organize an 80-mile relay run and bike
race from Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, to Churchill Downs in
Louisville on November 2.
Pulling the anchor leg, Day will be greeted by Borel as he crosses the finish
line at the historic Louisville racetrack days before the Breeders’ Cup World
Championships on November 4-5. The charities they will be raising money for
include The V Foundation for Cancer Research, Thoroughbred Charities of America
and the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
Last year’s “Breeders’ Cup or Bust” raised $75,000 for Breeders’ Cup
Charities in a two-man walk from Keeneland to the Galt House in Louisville for
the 28th Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
“Breeders’ Cup or Bust” will begin its roughly 80-mile journey from Keeneland
Race Course on November 2 at 7 a.m. (ET) and will arrive at Churchill Downs by 7
p.m. Accompanied by a police escort, the relay team of one-mile runners and
five-mile bikers will travel US-60 to Louisville and then cut across the city to
finish at historic Churchill Downs. The Paulick Report will be giving constant
updates on the relay at
www.paulickreport.com.
“For the third consecutive year, we are very pleased to partner with Ray and
Brad in their efforts to call attention and raise money for such outstanding
causes as The V Foundation, Thoroughbred Charities of America and the
Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund,” Breeders’ Cup President and CEO Craig Fravel
said. “We greatly appreciate all those who are participating in the relay from
Lexington to Louisville in support of these worthy organizations.”
“Last year, we asked ourselves, ‘Who in their right mind would walk from
Lexington to Louisville?'” Ray Paulick said, “But now we’re another year older
and another year wiser. So instead of walking 80 miles, we will be asking for
the support of our friends in the industry. We all know these charities do vital
work in our community and industry and deserve our support.”
“It is an honor to participate in this wonderful event,” Day said. “What a
great idea not just to raise funds for and awareness of these most worthy
charities but to involve members of the industry and give us the opportunity to
participate. Thank you Ray and Brad.”
