Harry Aleo’s LOST IN THE FOG (Lost Soldier) ran his record to a perfect
10-for-10 by easily defeating four rivals in the $100,000 Bay Meadows
Speed H. on Saturday. Breaking from the rail under Russell Baze, the
three-year-old sensation shot out of the gate and led after just a few strides,
in essence putting the race away after the opening quarter-of-a-mile. Trained by
Greg Gilchrist, the colt set splits of :22 2/5, :44 4/5 and :56 2/5 before
completing the six furlong fast track event in rapid 1:08. The final margin of
victory was 7 3/4 lengths and the payoffs for the 1-9 favorite were $2.10 and
$2.10.

Halo Cat (Southern Halo) chased the winner in second throughout the race and
held on for the place, two lengths clear of stablemate Jeffries Bay (Gone West).
Place was $2.10 and the exacta was a miniscule $1.30 ($1). Seattles Best Joe
(Personable Joe) was next and followed by No Derby (Six Below), with Thirsty
Guy’s (Kahuna Jack) and Stormin’ Lyon (Storm Boot) being withdrawn.

Lost in the Fog now has a bankroll of $889,075 from his perfect mark. The
dark bay has amassed wins in the King’s Bishop S. (G1), Carry Back S. (G2),
Swale S. (G2), Riva Ridge Breeders’ Cup S. (G2) and Bay Shore S. (G3), as well as a
trio of listed events.

Bred in the Sunshine State by Susan Seper, the winner brought a bid of
$48,000 at the 2003 OBS August Yearling Sale. He is out of the unraced Cloud
Break (Dr. Carter).
