Paddy’s Daisy just gets up for Miesque
Stonehaven Farm’s homebred PADDY’S DAISY (King of Kings [Ire])
made it three in a row when taking Friday’s second division of
the $75,000 Miesque S. (G3) at Hollywood Park. The juvenile miss,
trained by Todd Pletcher, stopped the clock in 1:36 4/5 for the
one-mile turf event. Sent off as the post-time favorite at 8-5,
the chestnut was given a perfectly-timed ride under Cory Nakatani
to get up by a neck at the wire.
Hung four-wide around the first turn, Paddy’s Daisy tracked
fractions of :23 1/5, :47 3/5, and 1:12 set by Witten (Fusaichi
Pegasus). Entering the stretch after being forced to run four-wide
again, she battled to just get by Conveyor’s Angel (Conveyor) in
the final furlong. Kenza (Menifee) closed like a monster, still
sixth after seven furlongs in 1:24 2/5, to get up for third at 10-1.
Paddy’s Daisy returned $5.40, $3, and $2.60 while keying a $9.10
exacta ($1) with Conveyor’s Angel, who gave back $3.60 and $2.80
at 7-2. Kenza completed the trifecta, which was worth $51.30 ($1),
and paid $3.80. Mac Rhapsody (GB) (Night Shift) completed the 6-4-7-5
superfecta, which paid $316.90 for $1. They were followed by Lady
Le Quesne (Ire) (Alhaarth), Wise Investor (Belong to Me), Witten
and She Sings (Petionville).
This is Paddy Daisy’s fourth win from six starts, including
victories in the Jessamine County S. at Keeneland and the Salem
County S. at the Meadowlands. She also finished fourth in the
Natalma S. (Can-G3) and has now earned $186,336. Bred in the
Bluegrass state, Paddy’s Daisy is out of the unraced Woodman mare
Mrs. Paddy.
