Champion juvenile filly Take Charge Brandi (Giant’s Causeway) will miss her
planned showdown with champion juvenile male American Pharaoh (Pioneerof the
Nile) in Saturday’s Rebel S. (G2) at Oaklawn Park, her Hall of Fame trainer D.
Wayne Lukas announced Tuesday morning, because of a non-displaced chip in her
right knee.

The injury, which will reportedly require 30 days of stall rest followed by
30 days of walking, will also preclude Take Charge Brandi from participating in
the Kentucky Oaks (G1) on May 1.

Take Charge Brandi closed at odds of 7-1 in this year’s only Kentucky Oaks
Future Wager.

Take Charge Brandi will be taken to Rood & Riddle in Lexington, Kentucky, on
Wednesday so that Dr. Larry Bramlage can determine whether surgery is necessary.

Named champion following wins in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1),
Delta Downs Princess (G3), and Starlet (G1), Take Charge Brandi made her season
debut at Oaklawn in the $100,000 Martha Washington on January 31, a one-mile
race which she won by a head.
