Saturday’s Florida Million card at Calder will feature eight races worth $1.2
million for Florida-breds, and Grade 1 queen TAKE D’ TOUR (Tour d’Or) is among
the top draws on the program. Winner of the Ogden Phipps H. (G1) and second in
the Ruffian H. (G1) this season, the David Fawkes-trained mare will face eight
rivals in the
$200,000
Elmer Heubeck Distaff H., a 1 1/16-mile test for fillies and mares on the
main track. Take D’ Tour has been installed as the 6-5 favorite on the morning
line.
The
$200,000 Carl G. Rose Classic attracted a field of nine, and multiple stakes
winner REHOBOTH (Wagon Limit) is the slight early favorite at 5-2 for the 1
1/8-mile race. The Frank Gomez-trained sophomore exits a close third in the
Spend a Buck H. (G3) and is cross-entered to the $150,000 Bonnie Heath Turf Cup.
Spend a Buck runner-up BIG LOVER (Ecton Park) is the 3-1 second choice on the
morning line, and TOO MANY TOYZ (Northern Afleet) also merits respect in the
nine-horse field.
Canadian Grade 2 winner REVVED UP (Sultry Song), a two-length victor in the
Sycamore Breeders’ Cup S. (G3) at Keeneland last out, heads the 13-horse
contingent in the
Bonnie Heath
Turf Cup. Four-for-five this year, the Christophe Clement charge is listed
at 8-5 for the 1 1/8-mile turf affair. Grade 3 hero WEIGELIA (Safely’s Mark) is
back to defend his title in the
$150,000
Jack Dudley Sprint H., and the five-year-old has captured the last two
runnings of the six-furlong event. He’s been posted as a 9-5 favorite against
nine rivals.
Juveniles will contest the remaining four events. The Florida Million program
kicks off with a field of eight in the seven-furlong,
$150,000
Joe O’Farrell Juvenile Fillies; 11 are set for the
$100,000
John Franks Juvenile Fillies Turf at 1 1/16 miles; 11 runners will square
off over seven furlongs in the
$150,000 Jack
Price Juvenile S.; and 13 are entered to the
$100,000
Arthur I. Appleton Juvenile Turf at 8 1/2 furlongs.
