Needwood Blade sires top lot at Goffs November opener
Goffs’ November Sale kicked off the first of five days of foals sessions
Monday, with proceedings headed by Hip No. 168, a colt from the first crop of
the Group/Grade 3-winning sprinter Needwood Blade (GB) (Pivotal). From the draft
of Nafferty Stud, the February 26 foal is from the family of the 2003 July S.
(Eng-G2) winner Nevisian Lad (Royal Applause [GB]) and was knocked down to Paddy
Cummins’ Prosperous Stud for 31,000.
That followed on the heels of Nafferty’s selling of the session’s joint
top-priced fillies by Danetime, the sire of this year’s Group 1 place-getters
Vital Equine and Dhanyata. Hip 165, a brown filly produced by the Green Desert
mare Shining Desert, was knocked down to bloodstock agent Bobby O’Ryan for
24,000, while Hip 146, out of Rose Vibert (Caerleon), was purchased by Michael
Morrin’s Pier House Stud.
Selling continues Tuesday. Full results can be viewed online at www.goffs.com.
