Eight three-year-old fillies will prepare to battle on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Day in the $150,000 Santa Ynez S. (G2) at Santa Anita.

SHARP LISA (Dixieland Band) is looking to make her first trip to the winner’s
circle for trainer Doug O’Neill. The chestnut lass broke her maiden by 6 1/2
lengths for then-trainer Steven Dwoskin, which was followed up by a close
decision in the Alcibiades S. (G2) for O’Neill. In her next showing, she placed
sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and now exits off a runner-up
spot in the Hollywood Starlet S. (G1). Sharp Lisa cuts back to seven furlongs
for this one and her closing speed should prove useful in the end for the
field’s front-end speed. Tyler Baze will make his first start aboard the
sophomore.

MOTHER (Lion Hearted) comes off an impressive eight-length win to break her
maiden. Trainer Bob Baffert has won seven of his last 19 races and looks to have
the dark bay filly ready to go in her second race of the year. She has revealed that she can compete through a
fast pace, so Mother should fare well no matter what scenario materializes up
front. Look for her to grab the early lead with Mike Smith aboard.

Mother’s stablemate, NO BULL BABY (Indian Charlie), exits off a fourth in the
Hollywood Starlet. Although both No Bull Baby and Mother have shown a tendency
to set the early pace, don’t expect the two Baffert fillies to do anything to
jeopardize their chances of winning by wearing themselves out in the opening
fractions of the race. The cut in distance could benefit No Bull Baby, as she won the
Moccasin S. run at the same distance. Rene Douglas will be in the irons.

HOT ATTRACTION (Pulpit) comes off an excellent run to break her maiden, 7
1/2-lengths the best. Trainer Wally Dollase has conditioned the filly through
some sharp workouts, and Hot Attraction should be a threat Monday.

REVEALED (Old Trieste) only has one race under her belt so far, a one-length
victory in her maiden debut, in a race which included fellow entrant Hot
Attraction. Trainer John Shirreffs is fairly successful when returning his
charges for their second career starts, so don’t be surprised if Revealed has an
impressive performance off a 57-day layoff.

NORTHERN MISCHIEF (Yankee Victor), who finished third in the Hollywood
Starlet, has her only win at Santa Anita. She may improve with the cut in
distance and could get up for part. NINADIVINA (Cape Town) and BULITA (Knockadoon)
are the most experienced in the field with nine starts under their girths. They have
not been posting the numbers which their counterparts have been recording and
the quality of company could prove to be a bit much at this time.
