Canadian champion Perfect Soul retired
Grade 1 winner PERFECT SOUL (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells), last
year’s champion turf horse in Canada, has been retired from
racing. Owned by Charles Fipke and trained by Roger Attfield, the
six-year-old won last year’s Shadwell Turf Mile S. (G1) at
Keeneland and finished seventh in this year’s edition of what
turned out to be his final start.
Perfect Soul also recorded victories in April’s Maker’s Mark
Mile S. (G2) and last season’s King Edward Breeders’ Cup H. (Can-G2).
The bay placed in six other stakes, including runner-up finishes
in the Atto Mile (Can-G1), Niagara Breeders’ Cup H. (Can-G1) and
Firecracker Breeders’ Cup H. (G2) at Churchill.
Out of the Secretariat mare Ball Chairman, Perfect Soul owns a
record of 21-7-5-1, $1,527,764. Stud plans are pending.
