Goffs stages the third Kempton Park Breeze-Up sale Friday with a reduced
catalog of 59 lots scheduled to advertise their wares on the
Surrey venue’s Polytrack. Buyers will be the first to purchase
candidates for the £500,000 Breeze Up Bonus, as a swathe of ready-to-win
two-year-olds will be offered, all eligible for the valuable incentive.
The two
previous editions of the sale have already produced a haul of 45 individual
two-year-old winners, which includes last year’s Queen Mary S. (Eng-G2) victress Langs
Lash (Noverre), the California Derby hero Yankee Bravo (Yankee Gentleman),
three-time listed winner Fat Boy (Choisir) and fellow stakes scorer Choose Your
Moment (Choisir).
However, this year’s renewal has been
hit by the withdrawal of the seven-strong draft from leading Irish consignor Mocklershill Stables and the eagerly anticipated first foal of
One Thousand Guineas
(Eng-G1) heroine Virginia Waters (Kingmambo).
“Interest in the catalog has been very strong,
particularly as it is the first sale under the new Breeze Up Bonus Scheme, which
has received such an enthusiastic response from potential buyers,” Goffs’ Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented.
“We will be missing a number of key lots
from the sale as, regrettably, the Mocklershill draft has been withdrawn due to
an infection in the yard, while (Lynn Lodge Stud’s) Virginia Waters colt has
also suffered a setback. It is desperately disappointing for the vendors, for Goffs and for buyers, but we hope to accommodate these and any other horses
withdrawn from Kempton or DBS (sales) in our May Breeze Up Sale at Dundalk.”
Breezing takes place on the Polytrack in the morning, with selling due to commence
later in the afternoon. Catalogs, full results and video footage of Friday’s breezes can be viewed
