In the absence of any major fireworks, it was a daughter of Desert Prince
(Ire) who provided the main focus when selling for €61,000 during the opening
session of BBAG’s Yearling Sale. Hip No. 60, already named MONTENEGRA, is out of
a half to the stakes-winning Mosella (Ger) (Surumu), whose progeny include the
great sire Monsun. Gestut Isarland consigned the April-foaled filly, whose page
also features the likes of Moonlady (Ger) (Platini) and Mystic Lips (Generous).
She was knocked down to Jurgen Albrecht, who was acting on behalf of R & B
International.
Eleven lots later, Stall le Vite secured the evening’s top-priced colt when
paying €58,000 for Gestut Brummerhof’s full-brother to the 2006 Grosser Preis
von Baden (Ger-G1) victor Prince Flori (Ger) (Lando), while Stall Reckendorf
paid €55,000 for Hip 79, a son of Tiger Hill hailing from the draft of Gestut
Wittekindshof. He is a son of the German highweight Saldenschwinge (In the Wings
[GB]), and his sire has also been responsible for Group 3 winner Saldentigerin
(Ger). That price was matched by BBA Germany for Gestut Elsetal’s Hip 43, a
daughter of Big Shuffle who is a full-sister to Group 3 winners Konig Shuffle
and Group 2 victor Konig Turf.
“In spite of our hopes not being too high, we were still somewhat
disappointed, especially as the interest seemed great,” BBAG’s Managing Director
Carola Ortlieb said. “We now hope for tomorrow and also for more realistic
pricing ideas from the vendors.”
Selling continues Saturday. Full results can be viewed at bbag-sales.de.
