The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2012 Fall Mixed Sale got off to a strong
beginning with across-the-board increases at Tuesday’s Consignor Preferred
session.
On Tuesday, 119 horses sold for $1,689,900, a rise of 51.9 percent over the
corresponding session a year ago when $1,112,200 was realized from the sale of
84 head. The average rose 7.3 percent, from $13,240 to $14,201, while the median
was up 17.6 percent, from $8,500 to $10,000.
The session topper was a weanling colt by Scat Daddy, who was gaveled down to
Tom McCrocklin, agent, for $55,000. The March 6 Florida-bred was offered by
Bobby Jones Equine, agent, and toured the ring as Hip No. 35.
Produced by the Gilded Time mare Placerita, the chestnut counts as his second
dam the multiple stakes-winning Amazing Love (Advocator), who also reared the
stakes-winning Singing Heart (Palace Heart). This is the extended family of
Grade 1 hero Slew the Dragon and Grade 2 victor Slew the Knight, full brothers
by Seattle Slew.
The sale concludes Wednesday with an open session that begins at 10:30 a.m.
(EDT).
