Doncaster Bloodstock Sales (DBS) Company’s Managing Director Henry Beeby proclaimed a positive
start to 2006 at the conclusion of the mixed January Sale on Thursday. After the
day’s horses in
training session, the newly revamped auction returned an average of 4,683
guineas and a
gross of 1,807,490gns, which was up on its equivalent components last
winter.
“The
January Sale has started 2006 in a most satisfactory fashion for DBS,”
Beeby said.
“Taking last
year’s two-day sale total, which incorporated the second half of this year’s
sale, and the two
days we moved from November 2004 into account, the sale has shown an increase which
is
most pleasing.”
The top price at Thursday’s final session was 30,000gns for Estate
(Montjeu [Ire]), a four-year-old hurdler who was acquired by trainer Roger Brookhouse.
