Chiefswood Stable’s homebred Original Script did all the running in Sunday’s $237,700
Bison City, the
second jewel of Canada’s Triple Tiara for sophomore fillies, and held by a
length on the wire with jockey Jesse Campbell aboard.

The Paul Attard trainee strided out beautifully when the gates opened,
setting pedestrian opening marks of :25 and :50 1/5 while stalked by a rank Big
Brown Brookski just off her flank. She continued on the lead through six
furlongs in a leisurely 1:15, but really began feeling the pressure rounding the
turn as the rest of the field caught up.

Original Script would not be denied, though, and turned back a rallying
Smartyfly to finish 1 1/16 miles on Woodbine’s Polytrack in 1:45.

“Good horses make good things happen,” Campbell stated. “Honestly, we were
happy with the pace. She ran a great race. She was calm today. She’s grown up
mentally. I give all the credit to the barn.”

Sent off the even-money favorite, Original Script paid $4.20, $2.50 and $2.20
for adding a first stakes win to her resume.

Smartyfly saved ground down on the rail while running on the backstretch,
then angled off in the lane to chase Original Script home. The bay miss could
never catch her rival, but was easily best of the rest as Strut the Course ran
another 2 3/4 lengths behind in third.

Completing the order of finish were Sarah Her Highness, I’m a Kittyhawk, Cabo
Queen and Big Brown Brookski, who tired in the stretch.

Original Script took full advantage of the absence of Woodbine Oaks winner
Nipissing and runner-up Spring in the Air, who are headed for a date with the
boys in the Queen’s Plate next Sunday, to take the Bison City. The gray miss was
third behind those two in the Woodbine Oaks after leading early on in that
nine-furlong Polytrack contest. She also finished second in the Ontario Lassie
in her juvenile finale, and now boasts $363,628 in career earnings to go along
with her 7-4-1-1 scorecard.

“She’s become such a professional,” Attard remarked. “She was a little
high-strung as a two-year-old but she’s really matured now and a lovely filly to
work with.”

Original Script is the first registered stakes scorer out of the winning El
Prado mare Seanachai. Her fourth dam is Gonfalon, who is noted for foaling
multiple Grade 1-winning sire Ogygian as well as the dam of fellow Grade
1-scoring stallion Honour and Glory. This is the same female family as top sire
Fappiano.
