Lassie

Holmark Stables II’s She’s Offlee Good certainly was the best in her stakes
debut in Saturday’s $100,000

Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes
at Arlington.

The Richard Scherer charge settled in midpack as Richies Sweetheart sped to
the lead to post quick fractions of :22 3/5, :45 2/5 and 1:10 4/5. The
pacesetter started to fade around the far turn as 7-2 second choice Istanford
emerged with the lead as the field turned for home.

She’s Offlee Good raced down on the rail approaching the far turn before
swinging out four wide in the upper stretch. The two-year-old filly surged late
to take over the lead on the outside and kicked clear in the end to prevail by
two lengths.

“I knew there was a lot of speed up front and the pace would be fast,”
winning jockey Eddie Castro said. “At the three-eighths, I knew I had a lot of
horse and she had a nice response the last part.”

She’s Offlee Good covered one-mile over the Polytrack in 1:37 4/5 and paid
her backers $12.20 to win.

Sweetsoutherndame placed second by a half-length over 5-2 favorite Maria
Maria, who got up for third by a nose over Tamazula. It was just a neck back to
Istanford, who took fifth by another neck over Battlefield Angel. Gumdrop,
Bellarada, Richies Sweetheart, Divergent View and Look Who’s Here completed the
order under the wire.

A daughter of Offlee Wild, She’s Offlee Good was exiting her maiden win over
this track in her debut last month and remains undefeated with $79,200 in
lifetime earnings.

Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Jacqueline Smith, She’s Offlee Good is out of the
Dixie Union mare La Belle. Her second dam is the stakes winning Ree Saspri, who
produced Grade 3-placed multiple stakes scorer Follow Me Home. The dark bay’s
female family also boasts Grade 3-placed stakes victor Southern Dude, as well as
stakes queen Pacific’s Dream and multiple stakes winner Hallowed Dreams.

She’s Offlee Good sold as a yearling for $15,000 at the Keeneland September
sale and then sold as a two-year-old for $32,000 at the OBS April sale.
