First Dude’s first winner romps on Ohio Derby Day

Last updated: 6/20/15 9:05 PM

Grade 1-winning millionaire First Dude (Stephen Got Even) got off the mark as
a freshman sire Saturday when No More Chillin rolled in his debut at
Thistledown. The 9-5 second choice in the
6TH
race on Ohio Derby Day, the Ron Potts juvenile prompted the pace before taking
over in midstretch and drawing 3 3/4 lengths clear. Huber Villa-Gomez guided the
bay through 5 1/2 fast-track furlongs in 1:06 2/5.

No More Chillin was bred in Florida by Crane South and sold twice at auction.
After fetching $47,000 as a short yearling at OBS January, he went for $65,000
at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July to his current owners, The Elkstone Group. No More
Chillin is out of the winning Tigress Express (Polish Numbers), making him a
half-brother to the stakes-placed trio of Pensylvaniaexpress (B L’s Appeal), One
More Wild Ride (Wildcat Heir) and Cambria’s Dream (Wheaton).

A Donald Dizney homebred, First Dude was a prominent three-year-old of 2010
who placed in the Preakness (G1), Belmont (G1), Haskell Invitational (G1),
Travers (G1), Blue Grass (G1) and Pennsylvania Derby (G2). The Dale Romans
trainee therefore enjoyed a lucrative campaign despite not breaking through at
the stakes level.

First Dude achieved that ambition after transferring to Bob Baffert for 2011,
when he prevailed by a nose in the Alysheba (G3). He came right back to defeat
stablemate Game on Dude and Twirling Candy in a thriller in the Hollywood Gold
Cup (G1), in what turned out to be his final start. He retired with a 17-4-5-4
record and $1,442,140 in earnings.

Out of the stakes-placed Smart Strike mare Run Sarah Run, First Dude is a
half-brother to stakes scorer Via Veneto (Orientate), from the extended family
of sires Iron Ruler (Never Bend) and Francis U. (Francis S.). His fifth dam is *Uvira
II (Umidwar), ancestress of the likes of Raja Baba (Bold Ruler), Sauce Boat (Key
to the Mint), Plugged Nickle (Key to the Mint), Gay Mecene (*Vaguely Noble),
Wolfhound (Nureyev), Lemon Drop Kid (Kingmambo), Summer Squall (Storm Bird) and
A.P. Indy (Seattle Slew).

The eight-year-old First Dude stands at Dizney’s Double Diamond Farm near
Ocala, Florida, for $7,500, stands and nurses.
