On a beautiful Saturday afternoon that featured a historic dead-heat in the
143rd running of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers, attendance and handle, both
on-track and all-sources, were up substantially from 2011 figures.

“It was an exhilarating day at Saratoga Race Course featuring four graded
stakes. Over 46,000 fans were on-track to witness firsthand the first dead-heat
in the prestigious Travers since 1874,” NYRA President and COO Ellen McClain
said.

“Congratulations to riders David Cohen and Ramon Dominguez, trainers Ken
McPeek and Kiaran McLaughlin, and the owners of Golden Ticket and Alpha. Horse
racing is a thrilling sport and our strong program continues tomorrow with the
Grade 1 Personal Ensign, promising another fun day at the Spa.”

Attendance totaled 46,528, an increase of 8.1 percent from 43,050 in 2011.

On-track handle for Saratoga’s races was $8,741,773, up 7 percent from last
year’s total of $8,172,452. An additional $1,193,435 was wagered downstate at
the Belmont Café and the Aqueduct simulcast center for a combined on-track
handle of $9,935,208, an increase of 12.4 percent from $8,839,281 last year.

All-sources handle was $36,597,173, up 10.8 percent from last year’s total of
$33,017,384.

The pool for Saturday’s $1 million guaranteed All-Graded Stakes Pick 4 was
$1,837,082, up 11.3 percent over last year’s pool of $1,650,587.
