Rockport Harbor off Triple Crown trail

Remsen S. (G2) winner ROCKPORT HARBOR (Unbridled’s Song) will miss the Triple
Crown following his disappointing sixth-place finish as the odds-on favorite in
Saturday’s Lexington S. (G2) at Keeneland, according to a message from owner
Rick Porter on rockportharbor.com.

“We have decided to pull Rockport Harbor from the Triple Crown trail,” Porter
wrote on Sunday. “We could probably get him ready for the Preakness (S. [G1] on May
21) and the Belmont (S. [G1] on June 11), but in our judgment, giving him a
break and pointing to some good summer stakes is the better option for him. He
has missed a lot of training and gotten off his schedule for the Triple Crown. He
has been subjected to a lot of medical treatment, including a lot of injections
and antibiotics.

“Therefore, he will ship back to Philadelphia Park next week and resume
training. When (trainer) John (Servis) feels he is settled enough and training
great, we will look for a race. Some early thoughts are to eventually point for
the Haskell (Invitational H. [G1] at Monmouth Park on August 7) or Travers (S.
[G1] at Saratoga on August 27).”

Rockport Harbor finished a close second in the March 19 Rebel S. (G3) at
Oaklawn Park in his only other start this year. The gray colt will head to the
sidelines with four wins and one second in six starts and $260,300 in earnings.
