Four stakes will be featured at Aqueduct on Sunday when horses by New York
stallions take center stage. Of those four New York Stallion S. events, the most
competitive on the day will be the $100,000
Cormorant division, which has drawn an overflow field of 15. Three
are listed as also-eligibles and two are entered for the unlikely event that the mile turf race is switched to
the main track.
Grade 3 winner WEST VIRGINIA (Tomorrows Cat) ran on this day in 2003, taking
the Great White Way division by a nose. He enters the Cormorant off a fifth in
the Empire Classic H., a race he was second in last year by just a head. The
Todd Pletcher trainee will share 120-pound highweight duties with WIN WITH BECK
(Personal Flag), a six-length hero of the Mohawk H. last out.
The distaff division will be in the spotlight in the $100,000
Perfect
Arc, which drew a field of nine.
Two-year-olds will get their turn in the $125,000
Great White Way and $125,000
Fifth
Avenue divisions. Sleepy Hollow S. third-place runner CLASSIC PACK (Regal
Classic) heads a field of six colts and geldings in the former race while stakes
winners ARTISTIC EXPRESS (Western Expression) and LITTLE MISS ZIP (City Zip)
will take on a field of 12 fillies in the Fifth Avenue.
