Sun Chariot S. (Eng-G1) runner-up SUMMITVILLE (Grand Lodge) topped
Wednesday’s penultimate session of the Tattersalls December Sale when bought by
Japanese breeder Katsumi Yoshida of Northern Farm for 450,000 guineas. Naohiro
Hosoda, an employee of Yoshida’s Northern Farm, outbid John Warren for the Group
3-winning five-year-old.
“Mr. Yoshida is at Stansted airport waiting to fly to Germany to visit his
daughter,” said Naohiro Goda, Tattersalls’ Japanese representative. “The price
was just about what he expected and I don’t think he had a lot more to give.”
DELAUNCY (GB) (Machiavellian), a French stakes-placed performer whose first
foal was the 2003 King Edward VII S. (Eng-G2) runner-up Delsarte (Theatrical
[Ire]), was offered by Voute Sales for Andrew Cohen’s Wood Hall Stud in foal to
Pivotal and purchased for 410,000gns by agent Johnny McKeever.
“She’s a beautiful mare who has proven herself already and was offered with
one of the most desirable covers around,” McKeever said
after outbidding Niarchos racing manager Alan Cooper.
TUSSAH (Daylami [Ire]), out of a
half-sister to Barathea (Ire), brought 350,000gns from Charlie Gordon-Watson,
who purchased her for a client of Fittocks Stud
near Newmarket. She was consigned by the Leigh
family’s Eydon Hall Farm.
Group 2 winner DANCE PARADE (Gone West) was bought for
320,000gns by
American agent Bob Greenbaum.
“She may be for a partnership but might not,” Greenbaum said.
“Basically all our options are open. Likewise she could be bred to top stallions in
Europe such as
Sadler’s Wells or could come to America. She was a lovely mare and the pedigree
is very
special.”
