Nine turf sprinters will contest Friday’s $150,000 Hollywood
Turf Express H. (G3) at Hollywood Park and 2003 Breeders’ Cup
Sprint (G1) winner CAJUN BEAT (Grand Slam) looks tough to beat.
Fifth in this year’s running at Lone Star Park last out, the four-year-old
drops in here and appears to be the class of the field. The Bobby
Frankel trainee owns turf experience and rates our top choice.

HOMBRE RAPIDO (Falstaff) enters here off a third-place finish
in the Ancient Title Breeders’ Cup H. (G1) and could surprise.
The John Sadler-trained gelding has two solid workouts, one over
this course, and could get his first win in 2004 here if he takes
to the grass.

The Mark Shuman-trained WORLDWIND ROMANCE (Frosty the Snowman)
has four wins in a row but steps up here. Ryan Fogelsonger gets
the mount, under whom the bay has won two of those last four,
including the Cherokee Run H. at Churchill Downs last time. We’ll
use him in the gimmicks.

MIGHTY BEAU (Rainbow Prospect) switches back to conditioner
Jeff Mullins and should be used. The five-year-old owns two wins
for that trainer over this course and may relish the return.
We’ll use him in the bottom of the exotics.

DE VALMONT (Aus) (Dehere) was second last time in the Morvich
H. (G3) and has recorded consistent BRIS Speed ratings over 100.
Watch out for the chestnut as he has not missed the board this
year.

The Chilean-bred GERONIMO (Chi) (Gold Tribute) won an
allowance over this same distance and course earlier this year
and could challenge with a late kick. Don’t forget him at the
windows. Neil Drysdale sends out GOLDEN ARROW (Rahy), who won
last time over this same course in a one-mile allowance event.
The five-year-old gets Rene Douglas in the irons and should enjoy
the shortening in distance, where the dark bay was more
successful last year.

CODED MESSAGE (Lost Code) recorded an impressive BRIS Speed
rating of 103 last out in an optional claimer at Fairplex. He
steps up here and may challenge on the front end. ONLY THE BEST (Smokester)
switches back to the turf but may find this company too difficult.
