Last updated: 12/8/06 7:40 PM

Friday’s Inglis Christmas Thoroughbred Sale at Newmarket saw a record price
of
A$520,000 for a yearling at a mixed sale. Lot 118, an Encosta de Lago colt
out of the
Danehill mare Cashier, set the mark when selling to the Western
Australian-based Wyllie
Group. Already accepted to the 2007 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, the
half-brother to Group 3
winner Flying Pegasus (Aus) (Fusaichi Pegasus) was sold to dissolve a partnership.

Earlier in the
day, the topper’s
elder sister Zaloot (Zabeel) was the highest-priced mare for the day,
purchased for
A$285,000 by Sydney-based bloodstock agent David Lamond. In foal to Starcraft
(NZ), the bay, Lot 67, was sold with her 2006 Galileo (Ire) filly at her side.
She was consigned
by Princes Farm.

The top price for a two-year-old at Friday’s sale was
A$180,000 for Lot
181, the unraced filly Bound (Royal Academy). Ramsey Pastoral Pty Ltd
purchased the
daughter of Group 1 winner Wrap Around (Aus) (Bletchingly). Consigned by Tyreel Stud
as
agent, the bay is a half-sister to the dam of champion Fashions Afield (Redoute’s
Choice).

The auction
company’s Managing Director Reg Inglis was pleased with the day.

“That the final
sale of the
year was very strong, with extremely good prices achieved, which all augurs well
for the sale
season next year,” he said.
