Dubai Golden Shaheen (UAE-G1) hero Mind Your Biscuits. The chestnut son of Posse breezed a bullet three-eighths in :36.87 over Belmont’s fast main track in his first U.S. move since mid-March.
“He looked very good this morning, I was pleased with the way he moved,” trainer Chad Summers said. “He didn’t work with blinkers today, we’ll get to that point about a week from the race to tighten him up because he really puts in fast works with them on, but we just wanted to begin the process of getting him ready for the (July 8) Belmont Sprint (G2) and today was a good step in that direction.”
Mind Your Biscuits closed out his sophomore campaign, and his time in trainer Robert Falcone Jr.’s barn, with a half-length win in the Malibu Stakes (G1) on December 26. He transferred to Summers in time for a rallying neck second in the February 25 Gulfstream Park Sprint (G3), then headed to Dubai for the Golden Shaheen.
Mind Your Biscuits took a short vacation at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky after arriving back in the United States. Now at Belmont, the four-year-old is likely to follow in a path similar to California Chrome, according to Summers.
“We liked the way California Chrome was handled following his win in Dubai and it worked for them so we’re hoping it’ll also work out for us, but he’s come back from that break great and we’ll start with the Belmont Sprint. Our long-term goal this summer at Saratoga in the (August 26) Forego (G1),” Summers said.
