Six three-year-old fillies will go forward in the $100,000 Railbird S. (G3)
at Hollywood Park on Saturday at seven furlongs. Turf Paradise import SILLY
LITTLE MAMA (Old Topper) has good early speed which should prove beneficial for
the Dan McFarlane trainee. The chestnut miss has only missed the winner’s circle
once in five outings, that coming when she ran second in the Lapaz S. If Silly
Little Mama can transfer her talents to Hollywood, she will be a serious
threat. David Cohen rides.
ACCELERATION (Vision and Verse) hasn’t finished on top since defeating
allowance company back in June of last year. However, the Jeff Mullins charge
has run in the money her fair share of times, including a close half-length third
in the Santa Paula S. (G3) last time out. The bay sophomore is experienced over
the Inglewood, California, surface (3-2-0-0) and should put in a good rally in
the latter stages of this race to get her into contention. Juan Ochoa has the call.
SO LONG SONOMA (American Chance) will be making only her third career
appearance, but she has earned consecutively improving BRIS Speed figures in
those two. She has a good late kick and should not be denied the gimmicks under
Jon Court.
EL MIRAGE QUEEN (Gilded Time) ran well for second in the Santa Paula, just falling short at the wire.
The bay filly has proven she can press the pace or rate, and she should be used
in the exotics. BETTARUN FAST (Kelly Kip) moved up on a wet-fast track to take
the Santa Paula, but she could find things harder on a fast track this time
around. MYSTERY GIRL (Stormy Atlantic) returned from a layoff to dead-heat for
second in her last outing, a 5 1/2-furlong allowance, which served as a good
tightener for this one. She could profit from added distance, but she has not
earned the Speed figures of her opponents. Your call.
