How To Bet Fort Erie 2018 Race Meeting

Fort Erie opens its 40-day meeting today (Tuesday, May 29) with racing Tuesdays and Sundays (beginning June 10) through October 16.

Fort Erie is a fun track to play because it gives you something to do as the early Tuesday tracks close, and sometimes there’s a Pick 5 carryover. The 20-cent minimums can be tricky to navigate as they definitely suppress payouts with the favorite winning 40% of the time, but I’ve also found that they can pay a little more if you’re really willing to narrow. I.e., the 20-cent minimum goads people to spread when the optimal play is probably to press the stronger opinion. E.g., you’re better off playing a 2x1x2 Pick 3 for $5 for a total cost of $20 than 10x2x5 for that same $20.

As you can see from the Brisnet.com At A Glance for Fort Erie below, early speed does well on both surfaces and distances with all posts OK on dirt but a potential inside preference on turf. My grid for the 9-race card is the featured image with this blog. The Pick 4s begin in races 2 & 6, and the first Pick 5 of 2018 kicks off in race 5!
