Triple Crown winner Justify walked around the stable area at Del Mar before assembled media on Monday while trainer Bob Baffert described the colt as being “in a holding pattern” in regards to whether he’ll run again.
“Right now, we’re just looking to get him 100 percent,” Baffert said. Justify is currently under observation after filling was discovered in his left front ankle two weeks ago.
“I’d love to run him again, because he’s so much fun and exciting to watch. We should know more in a couple of weeks,” Baffert added.
That timetable would preclude Justify from racing in either the $1 million Pacific Classic (G1) at Del Mar or the $1.25 million Travers (G1) at Saratoga, the highlights of the two boutique summer meets.
Justify, who is expected to only walk for the next two weeks, could eventually have the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs as his ultimate goal should he resume serious training.
Please be Kind to Justify and Retire Him ….. He’s Accomplished SO Much in such a short time and Collared the Biggest Prize …. The Triple Crown!
Well, we’d all love to see Justify run again. Preferably in the PC BUT Bob will do what’s best for Justify. If they decide not to run him and retire him, it will kill Bob and Justify’s owner more than us fans. It’s great watching him do his thing BUT.. We’ll accept whatever decision THEY choose. They’ll do the right thing for Justify. It’s not worth taking chances. He has a awesome career in the breeding shed waiting for him, no matter what. THANK YOU all for sharing him with us. He is Awesome!
