How To Bet the Cross-Canada Pick 4 from Woodbine & Century Downs

The most important thing to know when betting the Cross-Canada Pick 4 that features a pair of stakes from both Woodbine and Century Downs is how to do it–literally!

The Pick 4 is available for wager via the Canadian PK4 track code on TwinSpires.com. Once there, wager as you normally would on the $0.20 (minimum) Pick 4 that begins with the Natalma Stakes (race 7) at 4:26 p.m. EDT at Woodbine. The sequence continues with the Summer Stakes (race 9 at Woodbine) before shifting west to Century Downs for an Alberta-bred stakes double of the Sturgeon Stakes two-year-olds and the Alberta Oaks for three-year-old fillies.

How to hit it, of course, is another matter entirely, but the number of combos (15,795 before Century Downs scratches) coupled with the novelty of the wager should give us some valuable opportunities.

Both the stakes races at Woodbine are Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Win In You’re In races for two-year-olds on turf. The Natalma goes through #7 Artilena, #8 My Gal Better, #11 Pivottina, or #12 Stillwater Cove. If none of those horses are among the winner then I will lose.

The Summer Stakes is a bit more open from the standpoint of I think you need to use more horses to have the same confidence I have advancing out of the Natalma, but likely favorite Fog of War is a solid lean given the professional debut, tremendous turn of foot, and breeding that should only improve. #12 Jungle Warrior is the biggest threat at a price, having run his final furlong in about 11 seconds on debut and breeder-owner Stronach Stable looking for a big win after Delta Prince lost yesterday.

In the Sturgeon, #4 Only One Kiss looks to be heavily backed returning to competition exclusive to those bred in Alberta, but the numbers say she’s no faster than my other As. In the Alberta Oaks, we’ll lean heavily on #s 2 Madam Bullet and #6 Max’n Motion.
