Gainesway Stable’s SUCCESSFUL OUTLOOK (Orientate) broke her maiden in her
first career race on October 1, taking a Belmont maiden special weight by 5
1/2 easy lengths. On Friday, the Scott Blasi-trained miss made just her second
lifetime start and once again ran her rivals off their hooves, capturing the
$106,200
Tempted S. (G3) at Aqueduct by 1 1/2 lengths under Joe Bravo. Sent off the
near 5-2 second pick, the chestnut juvenile had taken charge by the time
three-quarters had been reached in 1:10 3/5 and went on to reward her backers
with payouts of $6.90, $4.20 and $2.40.
“I had a lot of horse to play with today,” Bravo said. “She did everything in
hand. It was as easy as it looked. She came back like she never ran a race.”
Spectacular Malibu (Malibu Moon) ran in second for much of the mile event and
finished in that spot, giving back $5 and $2.20 as the 9-2 third choice. Five
Star Daydream (Five Star Day), the near even-money favorite, paid $2.10 and was
followed under the line by Changeisgonnacome (Cherokee Run) and Tell It As It Is
(Chester House). The exotics were worth $33.40 (exacta) and $61.50 (5-3-4
trifecta).
Successful Outlook finished the Tempted in 1:37 1/5 on the fast dirt to run
her earnings to $90,720. Out of 1995 Phoenix S. (Ire-G1) third-place runner Catch a
Glimpse (Gulch), Friday’s winner has two unnamed younger half-sisters, a Silver
Deputy yearling and a Lion Heart weanling. Bred by Foxfield in Kentucky,
Successful Outlook brought $95,000 as a Keeneland September yearling last year.
