Eight days after being injured in a spill at Gulfstream Park, jockey Gary
Boulanger was upgraded Monday to stable condition at Memorial Regional Hospital
in Hollywood, Florida. Boulanger will soon be moved
into a rehabilitation facility for therapy, according to agent Cory Moran. The jockey underwent two operations
last week.
“I visited him today and it’s miraculous the recovery he has made this week,”
Moran said. “He is making steady progress every day. When I saw him today he was
sitting up and talking to family members. He was very alert today and was
responding to questions.”
Moran said he could not disclose the location of the rehabilitation facility
because of Boulanger’s need for privacy while he is resting and recovering.
“We’ve had a lot of calls and many of his friends have tried to visit him,
but he’s recently had brain surgery and he needs his rest,” Moran added.
