Hall of Fame rider John Velazquez swept both graded stakes on closing day at Del Mar, guiding Sacred Wish to an upset in Sunday’s Matriarch (G1) and wiring the Cecil B. DeMille (G3) aboard Clock Tower.

A European longshot again dominated the shortest of Breeders' Cup races at Del Mar on Saturday when Starlust won a three-way photo by a nose in the $920,000 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1).

The Saturday card at Keeneland includes a trio of rich turf stakes: the $1.25 million Turf Mile (G1), the $750,000 First Lady (G1), and the $350,000 Woodford (G2).

When Chad Brown’s trio all quickened down the stretch in the Churchill Distaff Turf Mile (G2) at Churchill Downs, the only question was the exact order of his trifecta. Chili Flag, the 4-1 second choice, outkicked 8-5 favorite Coppice, leaving stablemate Delahaye back in third.
