California Chrome worked five furlongs over Los Alamitos' fast main track Saturday morning in 1:00.60 under regular exercise rider Dihigi Gladney.
The move came one week before the popular chestnut takes part in Los Alamitos' December 17 Winter Challenge, a prep designed exclusively for the Art Sherman trainee ahead of his run in the $12 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) at Gulfstream Park on January 28.
On Saturday, California Chrome clicked off fractions of :25 and :48.60 before galloping out six furlongs in 1:13.80.
"He just does what he has to do in the mornings," Sherman said after the move. "Looking forward to running him here, I know he's got a lot of fans. It'll be a great day. You get a once-in-a-lifetime horse like him and I like to share him with everybody."
