Christophermarlowe looks to stay perfect in Lingfield Derby

Trial

Christophermarlowe (Tapit) puts his unbeaten record on the line in Saturday's

Lingfield Derby Trial, the latest

prep for Epsom's blue riband, having already proven adept around those

Surrey contours when winning the April 22 Derby Trial over

10 furlongs.

Luca Cumani's horses have thrived in the last fortnight and

Bartholomew Fair (Dansili) represents the stable successful with the subsequent

Derby (Eng-G1) heroes Kahyasi in 1988 and High-Rise in 1998. He took a Yarmouth

maiden in style in September before finishing seventh in the

Autumn S. (Eng-G3) at Newmarket in October.

"We feel that he is up to this sort of

level, but whether he will stay the trip is something we are not quite so

certain of," his conditioner commented. "His dam, Rebecca Sharp, was a

miler and she is by Machiavellian who raced over six furlongs to a mile."

Aidan O'Brien puts forward the April 24 Dundalk maiden scorer Kilimanjaro

(High Chaparral),

while Ralph Beckett supplies the unexposed Magic Dancer (Norse Dancer), who returns

after a convincing Windsor maiden success in late October.

Lingfield's Oaks Trial is more likely to throw up a main protagonist for the Epsom

classic than the colts' equivalent, with a subsequent Oaks (Eng-G1) winner and two

runners-up having contested this in the last seven editions.

O'Brien sends across the maiden Wedding Vow (Galileo), whose latest piece of form

when second to Legatissimo (Danehill Dancer) in Gowran Park's Victor McCalmont Memorial S. April 26 took on another dimension

after last Sunday's One Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1).

Last year's May Hill S. (Eng-G2) fourth Supreme Occasion (Teofilo)

offers more proven black-type form to the mix, while the unexposed types

include Team Valor's unbeaten Affileo (Teofilo). Unbeaten in two starts at

Wolverhampton, she is stepped up markedly in trip following her latest

outing over 9 1/2 furlongs on the Tapeta there April 2.
